What I Tried: Insanity Workouts

Workout videos have always been a great way of getting some exercise in the safety of a home. During these times of uncertainty my family and I have been trying to stay home as much as possible, and with track season on hold I am trying to stay in shape the best way I can. So I decided to start a workout video called Insanity.

I knew I wanted to get exercise but I mainly wanted to get a cardio workout to stay in running shape. I chose Insanity because it is an extreme cardio workout compared to other workout videos. I like Insanity because it manipulates your body weight to get you stronger and works the whole body.

The Insanity workouts mainly consist of combination exercises. It may work the abs, arms, and shoulders in a single move. The intensity of the workout also appeals to many people who like to work hard and see quick results from their workouts. Insanity workouts are performed 20 to 60 minutes at a time, 6 days a week for 60 days. The workout video is also super beneficial because the space does not have to be huge; it can even be done in a bedroom.

The first thing to complete with Insanity is a fit test. The fit test shows where people were with the basic workout sets to do. It is a shorter workout just to get started. Then people follow the simple program to the end and get to see great results.

After the fit test, the next two days are extreme cardio which left me sweaty and super sore. The fourth day is a recovery day with stretching that still works the muscles. The next two days after that are even more cardio. Then there is a break on Sunday.

The first few days of the workout were super hard for me because I was so sore and I was not used to the moves or the intensity. I was often surprised with how tired and sweaty I was with the simple workouts. I learned as I went that it gets easier and easier as it goes on. I hope to complete the whole 60 days.

My experience so far of Insanity is so much fun. I enjoy the sweat and the soreness afterward. I can’t wait to see the end results of the program.
